THE HIDDEN THREAD

My grandmother had a long wallet made of fabric, where she kept things she deemed important, like stamps, money, and a bankbook. She carried it with her throughout her life, until her passing. Later, she passed this wallet on to my mother. I try to carry on the legacy of this item. Even though she's gone, I continue to follow the traces of my grandmother's wallet, contemplating the shape of life. I sew and reminisce, feeling the intersections of her life in my memory, connecting the threads of memory, emotion, soul, and physical movement.
