This piece explores the state of the soul after death, drawing inspiration from Taiwan's funeral culture, delving into the intersection of life and the ethereal. Through repeated cultural rituals, it discusses the blurry boundary between reality and the intangible, presented through fiber techniques. During funerals, the continuous burning of incense guides the soul with smoke and scent, creating a path and realm of memories. I envision scenes from my grandfather's past life. The artwork combines plant dyeing with techniques such as wool felting, silk fabric, and stitching, discussing spaces we cannot physically touch but have existed, conveying a sense of both looseness and tightness. The folds in the brain enable humans to perceive thoughts and emotions, incorporating the representation of folds into the artwork, storing each gradually fading fragment. Similar to the mood transcendence emphasized in Chinese ink painting, fiber materials are used as a medium to imagine the space and appearance of the soul, infusing warmth from textiles. After loved ones depart, all I can hold onto are the feelings towards people and events, visualizing "feelings" as a continuation of touching memories, carrying gentle emotions.
